Regulations cover facilities caring for adults with serious cognitive deficits. Doors leading to the outside shall have a system of security monitoring. Free access to an indoor walking corridor or other areas used for walking must be provided. The facility must employ an administrator and staff sufficient to provide services to maintain the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident. If assisted living services are provided, a licensed health care professional must be on site at least quarterly to provide health care oversight and nursing staff must be present to meet residents' skilled nursing needs.

Adult Care Residences. An Adult Care Residence provides care in a primarily residential setting. "Assisted Living" is a level of service provided in an Adult Care Residence for adults who may have physical or mental impairments and require assistance with two or more activities of daily living. Facilities may restrain residents, if necessary.

Continuing Care Retirement Communities, Life care.

Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) allow seniors to "age in place," with flexible accommodations that are designed to meet their health and housing needs as these needs change over time. Residents entering Continuing Care Retirement Communities sign a long-term contract that provides for housing, services and nursing care, usually all in one location, enabling seniors to remain in a familiar setting as they grow older.
